Academics

Our high school curriculum is college-preparatory in the fullest sense that is not defined by test scores, but by the depth of thinking, quality of work, and strength of character our students develop. Coursework includes honors-level humanities, mathematics through calculus pathways, lab sciences, and world language.

At the heart of our academic structure is the main lesson block with a four-week intensive deep-dive into a single subject each morning. This block rotation approach, unique to Waldorf education, allows students to move beyond surface-level coverage and develop genuine mastery, producing original research, presentations, and written work that reflects real understanding.

Every student completes a senior project with a capstone of their high school journey that demonstrates independent research, creative production, and the courage to stand behind their own ideas.

Arts and Making

Creativity is not an elective at WSPB. It is woven into every school day. Our high school arts program includes orchestra and ensemble, drama productions, studio arts, wood and metal craft, and digital media. Students are not just consuming culture; they are making it. The artistic skills developed here like discipline, creative risk-taking, and attention to detail are the same skills that distinguish our graduates in college and beyond.

Wellbeing and Culture

Adolescence is a time of profound transformation, and our school culture honors that. WSPB high school students benefit from meaningful mentorship relationships with their teachers, class trips that build community and independence, service learning that connects them to the wider world, and a restorative approach to conflict and discipline that models the values we hope to instill. Healthy technology norms are part of our culture which means phones stay out of class so students can be fully present.

College and Beyond

Waldorf graduates are accepted to and succeed at universities across the country. Our college advisory process is deeply personal and built on faculty recommendations grounded in authentic academic work, individualized portfolio and essay guidance, and a student's own developing sense of purpose and direction. Because WSPB students are practiced thinkers, writers, and makers, they bring something distinctive to every application.

Outdoors and Field Studies

South Florida's extraordinary natural environment is part of our classroom. High school students explore Everglades ecology, reef systems, and coastal restoration through hands-on field study days. Our school garden connects students to cycles of growth, seasonal rhythms, and the land beneath their feet for a grounding counterpart to the rigorous academic and artistic work of each school day.

Frequently asked questions about our Waldorf high school program

YWSPB is one of only a handful of Waldorf high schools in Florida, and the only one serving Palm Beach County families from our Upper Campus at 414 NW 35th Street in Boca Raton.

Absolutely. WSPB's high school program is fully college-preparatory, with honors-level humanities, math through calculus pathways, lab sciences, and world language. Our graduates are accepted to and succeed at universities nationwide — distinguished by their critical thinking, communication skills, and the depth of their academic portfolios.

A main lesson block is a four-week deep-dive into a single subject each morning. Rather than switching between subjects every day, students immerse in one area — producing original research, written work, and presentations that reflect genuine mastery. This block rotation structure is one of the defining features of a Waldorf high school education.

At WSPB, the arts are integrated into academics daily — not treated as electives. There are no AP exams or standardized test pressure; depth of engagement and quality of work are the measures of success. Small class sizes mean every student is genuinely known by their teachers. And our block schedule allows for a level of focus and intellectual depth that a traditional period schedule rarely achieves.
